Executive Director's Message

It's almost summer and there are lots of special days for special people coming up. There's Mother's Day on May 14 and World No-Tobacco Day on the 31st (a not-so-subtle hint to all you smokers).

Father's Day and National Picnic Day are both on June 18; that should give you a good idea of what to do with Dear Old Dad that Sunday!

Don't forget to toast your BFF on National Best Friend Day on the 8th and, on a more solemn note, recognize the importance of Juneteenth on, you guessed it, June 19th. (Should you be unaware of this holiday, June 19, 1865 is the day that Union soldiers arrived in Texas, 2 and 1/2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation, to deliver the message that all slaves had been freed.)

Here at Life After Brain Injury we aim to motivate survivors to live life to the fullest. Looking for days to celebrate even the most mundane event? (National Doughnut Day is June 2!) Googling and honoring holidays, whether lofty or silly, is one way you can celebrate everyday life.

Yours in fun,

Cherie
